HOME VISITS:
Our primary activity is to make home visits and to provide assistance to those in need. Whether it is due to job loss, divorce/separation, health reasons, or whatever reason there are times when anyone may be in need of a little help. During those times of need anyone may call the SVDP phone number for an appointment. Usually two people at a time will make a home visit not to assess or judge, but to make personal contact with the family and to get general information about the family. After this meeting , the financial assistance is provided immediately. Most of the assistance is for electricity, water or auto gas bills. There are limits based on our funds available.
FOOD PANTRY
We also operate a small food pantry. Most of our donations of food items come from our parishioners and the Knights of Columbus. During each home visit, we will usually provide a care package of food to the family.
SVDP donation truck
Several times throughout the year we have the St Vincent de Paul parked in the St Anthony’s parking lot to collect donations. SVDP members man the event.
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
After collecting family names throughout the year, we provide these needy families with a Thanksgiving dinner that includes an uncooked turkey and all the trimmings.
All the families need to do is pick up their turkey dinner at the St Anthony’s parish hall.
Annual Christmas Party
Also, after collecting names of needy families throughout the year, we invite all these families to a Christmas party at the parish hall. We provide a complete meal to the family. The kids received gifts which have been donated by parishioners. We have Christmas caroling and Santa even makes a visit.
Meetings:
SVDP conference meets once a month, currently the first Thursday of the month in the parish hall at 7 PM.
